Obstacles in spiritual progress

Spiritual growth, like any profound transformation, is rarely a smooth path. It is true that we face hurdles along the way—moments when progress seems slow, or when we feel disconnected or discouraged. These obstacles, however, are not signs of failure but rather tests, opportunities for us to measure how deeply aligned we are with our higher purpose. They are phases where the material world, or maya, with its illusions and distractions, pulls us in different directions to challenge our commitment. It is as if the forces of maya are observing our resistance, testing how much we can hold our ground and remain steadfast on our spiritual journey.

To understand this better, it helps to consider the nature of the reality we perceive. What we see and experience is only a fraction—maybe just 1%—of the total reality that exists. Beyond what our senses can detect, there are realms, energies, and beings that coexist with us, unseen but ever-present. While we may not be able to see these entities, their existence still impacts our lives. Some of these beings exist on higher, divine frequencies, and they work to guide and elevate us. These divine entities, such as angels, spiritual guides, and higher beings, assist us in aligning with our true purpose and frequency. They pave the way for us through grace and intuitive guidance, offering support when the path seems unclear.

On the other hand, there are also beings from lower realms or lower frequencies—energies that are dense, negative, or destructive in nature. These entities may seek to pull us down, clouding our judgment and draining our energy. They often do so subtly, by influencing our thoughts and emotions. These negative thoughts, or vibrations, are not our own but are projections from these lower-frequency beings. If we identify with these thoughts as though they are our own, if we believe that we are the ones thinking them, we risk slowing down our progress and veering off course.

This is where the crucial insight lies: The thoughts that arise during difficult or elevated spiritual phases are often not your own. The influence of lower frequencies often manifests as negative, self-doubting, or discouraging thoughts. These thoughts may make you question your worth, your progress, or your ability to succeed in your spiritual journey. But remember, they are not yours; they are simply the energy of lower beings attempting to distract and disempower you.

If you begin to believe these thoughts—if you immerse yourself in them and start questioning your own worth or path—the process of spiritual growth will slow down. You might even feel disheartened, thinking that you are falling short or not progressing fast enough. However, if you recognize these negative thoughts for what they truly are—foreign influences from lower realms—you can detach from them more easily. They are just passing energies, and you do not need to absorb them. Simply observe them, acknowledge their presence, but choose not to identify with them. Instead, continue moving forward with grace, confidence, and clarity.

Another key point to remember is that your actions are yours, and they are what truly matter. While negative thoughts may arise, the choices you make, the actions you take, are always within your control. You cannot blame external forces or lower-frequency entities for the decisions you make. The challenge is to stay conscious and aware, acting from a place of mindfulness rather than reacting impulsively or unconsciously. Spiritual growth requires us to take responsibility for our actions—thoughts are fleeting, but actions are what shape our reality.

It’s easy to fall into the trap of seeking spiritual escape—believing that we can simply retreat from the world and avoid the challenges that life presents. But that is not the purpose of our journey. We are not born to disconnect entirely or to shy away from our responsibilities. Spiritual growth is not about escaping the material world but about learning how to navigate it with wisdom, awareness, and integrity. The goal is to engage with life fully, without being overly attached to its distractions, yet remaining grounded in our higher purpose. We are meant to rise above the distractions of maya, to face the hurdles with grace, and to evolve into our fullest, truest self.
